EFA PRESIDENT HAILS MULASPORT INVESTMENT AT HISTORIC NATIONAL FIRST DIVISION LEAGUE PRIZE PRESENTATION CEREMONY

The  Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), hosted the inaugural MulaSport National First Division League Prize Presentation Ceremony at Sibane Sami Hotel in Ezulwini on Thursday, 25 June 2026.

The event marked the culmination of a successful first season under the MulaSport sponsorship and brought together football stakeholders, government representatives, sponsors, club officials, players, and the media to celebrate excellence within the country’s second-tier football competition.

Addressing the gathering, EFA President Peter Simelane described the occasion as a significant milestone for Eswatini football and expressed gratitude to MulaSport for its investment in the National First Division League.

“It is with substantial compliment and opportunity, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Eswatini Football Association and the football family, to address this observance of the first awarding ceremony of the MulaSport National First Division League Sponsorship,” said Simelane.

Reflecting on the launch of the partnership in October 2025, Simelane recalled the Association’s appreciation when MulaSport first committed its support to the league.

“At the launch of this partnership last year, the EFA expressed its genuine gratitude to MulaSport for investing in the most dynamic football league product in the country. Today, MulaSport has witnessed this dynamism for itself. This is not unique to Eswatini but is characteristic of football around the world,” he said.

The EFA President further assured the sponsors that football remains one of the most effective platforms for achieving business objectives.

“MulaSport should have no doubt that football is by far the best vehicle for any business seeking to achieve its objectives. You did not make a mistake. We are extremely delighted by the investment already made into the National First Division League and its associated products. This investment has not only sustained the existence of clubs but has also enhanced their performances, making the league even more competitive.”

Simelane also acknowledged the support of the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini through the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs.

“Football expresses its gratitude and recognizes the significant impact exhibited by Government in the development of the game. We are humbled by your continued leadership, presence, and love for football activities.”

The President also commended the Premier League of Eswatini leadership for introducing and successfully managing the newly branded competition.

“To the Chairman of the PLE and the entire leadership, I congratulate you on this new product and branding extension. It is important that all stakeholders work together to preserve this special partnership and ensure its sustainability for the benefit of football.”

He added that the sponsorship has created additional motivation for clubs competing in regional super leagues and lower divisions to improve their standards and strive for promotion.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of the season’s top performers. Red Rhinos FC were crowned champions and secured automatic promotion to the MTN Premier League. They will be joined by Pigg’s Peak Professionals FC and Madlenya FC, who also earned promotion through the play-offs.

“A special cheer goes to Red Rhinos FC for attaining Premier League status and equally to Pigg’s Peak Professionals and Madlenya FC for joining the top flight through the play-off route. We also salute the fierce competition provided by all the other clubs throughout the season,” said Simelane.

The EFA President paid tribute to the many individuals who contributed to the successful delivery of the league.

“We cannot fail to recognize the crucial roles played by club leaders and administrators, coaches, referees, spectators, and match organizers. Their collective efforts have contributed significantly to the success of this league and are the reason we gather here to celebrate these achievements.”

While congratulating the winners, Simelane encouraged all football stakeholders to maintain their focus on future development and preparations for the upcoming season.

He also highlighted the important role of the media in promoting football and its stakeholders.

“As I conclude, I recognize the crucial function of the media in marketing our wider football business and associated events. We look forward to their continued support in promoting this exciting competition from start to finish.”

Concluding his address, Simelane once again thanked MulaSport for its commitment to football development in Eswatini.

“To MulaSport, we salute and welcome your immense investment in football. You have certainly not made a mistake but have joined the wisdom of those who understand the value and power of football. We wish your establishment continued success and congratulate all award recipients on this special occasion.”

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of trophies, medals, prize money, and individual awards, bringing to a close a memorable inaugural season of the MulaSport National First Division League and setting a strong foundation for the future growth of the competition.
