EFA CONTINUES NATIONWIDE SAFETY, SECURITY, AND SAFEGUARDING DRIVE IN LUBOMBO

The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has continued its nationwide Safety, Security and Safeguarding Workshop Programme, with the latest training successfully conducted in the Lubombo Region from 25–26 June 2026.

Hosted at Kalanga Technical Centre, the two-day workshop brought together 34 participants, including Safety and Security Officers from Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) Super League clubs, Premier League officials assigned to matches in the region, members of the Regional Competitions Committee, representatives from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), and officials from the region’s zonal leagues.

Officially opening the workshop, LRFA Chairman Mr. Lucky Dlamini welcomed participants and encouraged them to take full advantage of the learning opportunity. He emphasized the importance of safety, security and safeguarding in football and urged attendees to actively engage with the facilitators throughout the programme.

The workshop was facilitated by EFA Head of Safety and Security, Miss Tengentile Ndlandla, and EFA Safeguarding Officer, Mr. Lucky Dube. Participants received comprehensive training on key areas including stadium and venue safety, matchday operations, crowd management, accreditation systems, safeguarding responsibilities, emergency preparedness and the creation of safe football environments.

Speaking on behalf of the participants during the closing ceremony, Mr. Nhlanhla Mngometulu expressed appreciation to the facilitators for delivering a highly informative and practical programme.

“This workshop has been both timely and eye-opening. It has helped us identify areas where we have not always followed the correct procedures and provided us with the knowledge and standards required to improve how we carry out our responsibilities,” he said.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Lucky Dlamini thanked the EFA for extending the programme to the Lubombo Region and commended participants for their commitment throughout the two-day workshop.

“The true value of this training will be seen in how we apply the knowledge gained. As Safety and Security Officers, our responsibility does not end here. We must now implement these lessons to ensure that football remains safe, secure and enjoyable for players, officials and fans alike,” said Dlamini.

The nationwide programme now moves to the Hhohho Region, where participants from Northern Hhohho will undergo training at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre from 29–30 June 2026. The final workshop will be conducted for the Southern Hhohho Region at Sigwaca House from 2–3 July 2026, bringing EFA’s inaugural nationwide Safety, Security and Safeguarding Workshop Programme for all Regional Football Associations to a close.

The initiative forms part of EFA’s broader commitment to strengthening football governance and ensuring that safety, security and safeguarding remain central to the development and administration of the game across Eswatini.
