Speaking during the national team’s media day on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the EFA Technical Centre, the coach expressed high confidence in his team’s evolution.
“We are not pushovers anymore. We are not going there just to add numbers; we are going to compete,” Makhukhula stated. He noted that the squad is eager to test themselves in the upcoming 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship. “The players have developed a new level of self-belief and are looking forward to the challenge,” he added.
Echoing the coach’s sentiments, National Team Captain Simangele “Smesh” Sikhondze emphasized the squad’s unity. “Preparations are going well, and we are working together as a team,” Sikhondze said.
She also acknowledged the step up in quality required for international play, noting that the intensity is significantly higher than in the local league. She stressed that the players must maintain a high work rate to secure positive results on the regional stage.
