ESWATINI U20 EYES RESPONSE AGAINST LESOTHO AFTER ANGOLA DEFEAT

The Eswatini U20 national team will be looking to bounce back when they face Lesotho on Monday, 21 September 2026, following a 4–0 defeat to Angola in their opening Group B match of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifier Mozambique 2026.

The young Sihlangu began their campaign on Saturday, 19 September, in Maputo, where Angola took control of the encounter by scoring three first-half goals.

Despite the difficult start, Eswatini showed greater resilience after the break, conceding only once in the second half. The improved defensive performance provides a foundation for the team as they prepare for their remaining group fixtures.

With two matches still to play, Eswatini will have an opportunity to respond and strengthen their position in Group B. Their next challenge comes against Lesotho on Monday, before they conclude the group stage against defending champions South Africa on Wednesday, 23 September.

The tournament presents an important opportunity for the young players to gain valuable international experience while representing the country on the regional stage.

The three group winners and the best-placed runner-up will progress to the semi-finals. The two finalists will qualify for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ghana in 2027.

With the campaign still underway, the team will be determined to learn from the opening encounter and deliver a positive response against Lesotho.
