GREEN MAMBA EYE STRONG START IN CAF CONFEDERATION CUP
Green Mamba F.C. are set to begin their CAF Confederation Cup campaign when they host Angola’s CD Primeiro de Agosto in the First Preliminary Round at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Eswatini representatives enter the continental encounter with confidence after completing their final preparations, with Head Coach Dumsane Makhanya expressing satisfaction with the squad’s response during training.
“Preparations are going well. The players are responding very well, and we are happy with the way they have taken the work from the technical team,” said Makhanya.
Although Green Mamba F.C. have limited information about their opponents, Makhanya expects a physically strong Primeiro de Agosto side. He remains confident, however, that his players are adequately prepared for the continental challenge.
“We believe in our team. The preparations we have given these boys, together with the technical bench, have prepared them to full capacity. We believe they are ready for the challenge.”
The opening leg presents Green Mamba F.C. with an important opportunity to establish an advantage before the return fixture in Angola. A positive home result will be crucial to their hopes of progressing to the next round.
Makhanya has also called on Emaswati to rally behind the team and fill Somhlolo National Stadium.
“We are inviting all Emaswati to come to Somhlolo tomorrow and support us. We are not only playing for Green Mamba F.C.; we are representing the country. We need the support of the nation.”
Captain Mthunzi Mkhonto has echoed the call, urging supporters to come out in numbers and give the team the backing needed for what promises to be a demanding continental battle.
