EFA APPONTS ZDRAVKO LOOGARUSIC AS SIHLANGU GAFFER
The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has appointed Zdravko Loogarusic to be the head coach of the Senior Men’s National Team (Sihlangu SeMnikati). Loogarusic is a Croatian by nationality and has coached in Africa, Europe, and Asia. He has coached the national teams of Sudan (2019-2020) and Zimbabwe (2021-2022). As for club football, he has coached Asante Kotoko F.C., AFC Leopard, and Gor Mahia F.C. The head coach possesses a Pro License amoung his qualifications.
When unveiling the national team head coach, the EFA President Peter Simelane stated that they have high expectations from the coach. “We expect him to take the country to the next level and put us to the land of milk and honey”, Simelane said.
Zdravko Loogarusic highlighted that the task that is given to him is interesting. “This project looks interesting as it is a good challenge,” Loogarusic said. He also stated that he has not come to Eswatini for money but to contribute to the development of football. “I am not here for money, but to contribute to the development of football in the country.” Loogarusic said. He also believes that Eswatini has a lot of potential to qualify for international competitions. “The is a lot of potential here for the national team to qualify for the international competitions,” Loogarusic said. His immediate task is to lead the national team in the upcoming TotalEnergies AFCON Qualifiers.
