TEAM ESWATINI ELIMINATED IN THE AUSC REGION 5 GAMES’ FOOTBALL TOURNAMENTS
It is an early exit for Team Eswatini in football as both the U20 Men’s and U20 Women’s National Teams are eliminated in the AUSC Region 5 Games which also duplicate to be the COSAFA U20 Youth Championship, and COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship respectively after losing their second matches respectively. The U20 Men’s National Team lost to Zambia by 3-0, and the Women’s National Team also lost by the same score margin.
The U20 Men’s National Team lost to Zambia; whilst the U20 Women’s National Team lost to Zambia. On both matches, the games the goals were scored in the first half. As for the U20 Boys National Team, Zambia took the lead on the 18th minutes through Phiri. The Zambians doubled their lead in the in the 27th minute through Daka to make the scoreline to 2-0. Zambia increased the score to 3-0 after Chipelu scored his country’s goal in the 32nd minutes. In the second half, Eswatini tried to create some chances only for the Zambians to be resistant and managed the game very well. The referee blew the final whistle for full-time with no other goals being scored. This scoreline confirmed Eswatini’s elimination in the tournament.
As for the U20 Women’s National team, it was reflection of the Boy’s match as they also conceded all three gaols in then first half. South Africa scored the goals through Mokoena, Mabuza, and Mhlahlo. In the second half Eswatini made several changes as they applied a more defensive approach which prevented South Africa from not scoring other goals. The were no goals scored on the second half which made the match to end in a 3-0 scoreline in favour of South Africa.
