GREEN MAMBA F.C. CROWNED THE SMVAF INGWENYAMA CHAMPIONS

The 15th minute penalty that was scored by Sabelo Ndzinisa was enough for Green Mamba F.C. to be crowned champions of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) Ingwenyama Cup. The Correctional Services side humbled Mbabane Swallows F.C. by 1-0 on a wet Somhlolo National Stadium.

His Majesty King Mswati III, Royalty, the Head of Government, and Members of both Houses of Parliament were among the over 7 000 football fans who witnessed these finals. The rain did not dampen the spirit of the football fans as they enhanced the atmosphere at the stadium much to the delight of His Majesty King Mswati III.

The playing surface was a challenge for both teams as their tactics were compromised due to the wet turf. Mbabane Swallows F.C. was the more threatening side in the early minutes of the match. The unexpected happened in the 13th minute when Sandile Hlatjwako held Sabelo Ndzinisa grabbed this opportunity with both hands as he sent Sandanezwe Mathabela on Mbabane Swallows F.C. goal the wrong way. It was Sabelo Ndzinisa’s 7th goal of this edition which guaranteed him the top goal scorer naward.

Mbabane Swallows F.C. tried to apply more pressure to Green Mamba F.C. as they forced them to committee some errors at the back. In the 37th minute Banele Dlamini covered his goalkeeper very well as he cleared the ball on the goal line with everyone in the stadium counting a Mbabane Swallows F.C. equalizer. The referee blew the half time whistle with Green Mamba F.C. leading by 1-0.

In the second half, Mbabane Swallows F.C. continued where they left in the first half as they searched for an equalizer but Green Mamba F.C. was able to defend their goal much to the frustration of Mbabane Swallows F.C. Leon Manyisa was substituted for Siyabonga Zwane in the 57th minute much to his frustration as he left the field of play in tears and went straight to the dressing rooms. With the clock ticking towards full time, Green Mamba F.C. goalkeeper opted for more delaying tactics which resulted in him getting his second yellow card of the match and consequently, he received his marching order from the referee. Njabulo Ndlovu was sacrificed for the reserve goalkeeper Siyabonga Simelane. The Correctional Services side held on until the referee blew the final whistle which confirm Green Mamba F.C. the champions of the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup and they became One Million Four Hundred Thousand Emalangeni richer.
