SIHLANGU HEAD COACH BELIEVES HIS SQUAD HAS THE POTENTIAL TO COMPETE IN THE COSAFA CUP
The Sihlangu SeMnikati Head Coach Zdravko Logarusic has responded with sharp focus and determination following the draw for the 2025 COSAFA cup, which placed Eswatini in one of the most competitive groups of the tournament.
Grouped with Morocco, the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists and the first African team to ever reach that stage, alongside the talented and unpredictable Madagascar side, Eswatini faces a massive challenge. Only one team from the group will qualify for the semi-finals, leaving no room for error.
Speaking after the draw, Coach Logarusic delivered a strong message,
“The draw looks tough, but we can’t cry about it. Our job is to prepare, we know what we must do if we want great results and if we want to succeed, and pass to the semifinals, we have to prepare ourselves properly and be united and do what we have to do”
The coach emphasized on unity, and the importance of discipline and simplicity. Morocco enters the tournament as the clear favorites, carrying international experience and world class talent. Madagascar, meanwhile is known for their fast paced, technical style of play making them dangerous opponents. But Logarusic believes his squad has the potential to compete.
With the tournament set to take place from 4th to 15th June 2025 in Bloemfontein, South Africa, preparations are already underway. Coach Logarusic announced a tentative 27-man squad on 8th May 2025, and the team is expected to report for full-time camp on 25th May 2025, ahead of what promises to be a defining campaign for the national side.
