A player is developed on and off the field. Player development involves the following aspects:
- Technical Development – This is the development of the technical skills of a player. Technical development includes, passing, dribbling and shooting amongst other things.
- Tactical Development – This is the development of the tactical skills of a player. Tactical development includes the principles of attack, principles of defence, positional skill amongst other things.
- Physical Development – This is the development of the psychomotor skills of the player. This includes growth, recovery, speed, coordination and actions amongst other things.
- Mental Development – This is the development of the cognitive skills of a player. Mental development is also known as the construction of thoughts processes, which includes, preparation, positive thinking, acceptance, sporting culture, hygiene, problem solving and decision making amongst other things.
- Social Development – This is the development of social skills of a player. The player is being developed on how to prioritize human needs in the growth and progression of society. This includes emotions, confidence, friendship, education, sense of responsibility amongst other things.
