CAF’S INAUGURAL SAFE STADIUM INITIATIVE WORKSHOP IMPLEMENTED IN ESWATINI

Every soul present in a football event must be safe; thus, the significance of ensuring safety and security during the execution of such events. As an effort to achieve a safe and secured environment during football matches and other football events, CAF has embarked on a safety and security initiative through the implementation of workshops for her Member Associations (MAs), and the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) is the first MA to get the empowerment about safety and security from CAF.

CAF has sent two safety and security experts to empower the Safety and Security Officers (SSOs) of the elite football teams and other relevant football stakeholders in Eswatini. The primary goal of this initiative is to protect the lives and well-being of every soul present in a football event.

Officially opening this workshop was the EFA’s Vice president Steve Horton who expressed the EFA’s appreciation in being MA to be accorded the inaugural workshop of this initiative. “In this regard, we greatly appreciate CAF’s stance to accord Eswatini the very first workshop under her auspices,” Horton said. He also highlighted the significance of the implementation of this workshop. “CAF experts, you have an important assignment ahead of you this coming three days, one that will help us assure the establishment of a holistic safe environment in all the business that we do as football,” Horton said.

As an effort by the EFA to embrace the significance of safety and security in the football industry, the Vice President stated that the EFA is committed in investing towards the empowerment of her stakeholders. “We therefore have great commitment to ensure a holistic training of our stakeholders, including Government who have over the years remain the greatest partner in this area,” Horton said.

The Head of Safety and Security at CAF, Dr. Christian Emuruwa stressed the importance of having a safe and secured environment during football events. “Ensuring a safe environment is crucial for the success of any sporting event,” Emeruwa said. He also highlighted the significance of balancing safety and security measures. “Balancing safety and security measures with fan experience is crucial to ensure an enjoyable event,” Emeruwa said.

This workshop is held in Ezulwini, in the Kingdom of Eswatini and will end on Thursday, 18th July 2024.
