SIHLANGU SEMNIKATI HEAD COACH ACKNOWLEDGES THE FANS FOLLOWING A GOALESS DRAW AGAINS THE INDOMITABLE LIONS
The Senior Men’s National Team (Sihlangu SeMnikati) Head Coach Zdravko Logarusic has acknowledged the support from the football fans following the goalless draw against Cameroon (The Indomitable Lions). “It is good to see more people supporting the national team,” Logarusic said.
The Head Coach also stated that it was a tough match to play against Cameroon. “It was not easy to play against Cameroon; as they are one of the powerhouses of African Football; Logarusic said.
Cameroon paraded players who ply their trade in highly ranked European leagues. These players included Andre Onana, Vincent Aboubakar, and Christian Bassogog amongst others.
According to the Sihlangu SeMnikati Head Coach, they used the delayed arrival of Cameroon in Mbombela to their advantage as the Cameroonians did not have enough time to rest. “We were lucky to play against Cameroon that was not fresh as they did not recover properly after the long travel. We did not give them space to show their knowledge, physical fitness, and skill; said Lugarusic.
As an effort to make the players perform to their best abilities; he highlighted that the trick is to take the pressure away from the players. “I always try to take the pressure away from the players and put it on me; thus, enhancing them to play with confidence,” Lugarusic said.
This goalless draw resulted in Eswatini getting its first point of the on-going FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers which is a morale boost to the national team ahead of the next match against Mauritius on Sunday, 23rd March 2025 at the Mbombela Stadium. Kick-off is at 1500hrs. Ticketing cost R50/E50 in all Shoprite Stores Country-wide in Eswatini and South Africa.
