DOMINIC KUNENE TO LEAD SIHLANGU IN THE FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS AND THE COSAFA CUP
Whilst the recruitment process for the Senior Men’s National Team’s (Sihlangu SeMnikati’s) head coach continues, Dominic Kunene together with the latest technical bench will lead the national team until the finalization of this process. This implies that the technical bench for Sihlangu SeMnikati will not change for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifier Matches against Angola and Mauritius to be played on the 7th and 11th June 2024 respectively. These are away matches for the national team to be played at the Estadio 11 de Novembro (Angola) and St. Pierrer/Cote D’or National Sports Complex (Mauritius). The technical bench for Sihalngu SeMnikati is as follows:
- Dominic Kunene : Head Coach
- Sifiso Ntibane : Assistant Coach
- Ernest Mavuso : Assistant Coach
- Anthony Mdluli : Goalkeeper Coach
This technical bench will also lead the national team in the upcoming COSAFA Cup to be played mid- June in the Republic of South Africa. “The EFA Technical Committee advised the Executive Committee to employ a new coach thus the implementation of the recruitment process for the head coach. With the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers to be played early next month followed by the COSAFA Cup, the EFA has decided to extend the engagement of the latest technical team until the finalization of the recruitment process”, said the EFA President, Peter Simelane when addressing the media on Monday afternoon. He highlighted that this decision was also based on the recommendations by the EFA’s Technical Committee.
The national team’s head coach is scheduled to announce the national team by Wednesday, 22nd May 2024 which is the projected day for the commencement of the full-time camp for Sihlangu SeMnikati.
