Swazi Trac continues painting the country green through football  as she extended her footprint in the Shiselweni Region through football. First the John Deere brand supplies sponsored the Hhohho Regional Super League in 2010, which was followed by the Lubombo Regional Super League in 2013. This year, 2017 the company has added the Shiselweni Regional  Super League with a E42, 000.00 sponsorship for the 2017/2018 football season. Present during this event was the Vice President of the NFAS; Dr. Comfort Shongwe, MP Thulani Masuku, Chairman of the Lubombo Regional Football Association; Mr Mangaliso LaNgwenya, Chairman of the Shiselweni Regional Football Association; Mr Mlimi Mamba, an Executive Member of the NFAS; Mr Philip Dlamini , Chief Executive Officer of the NFAS; Mr Frederick Mngomezulu and Mr Moses Motsa from Swazi Trac just to mention a few.  

 

When making his remarks, the Vice President of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS); Dr. Comfort Shongwe who was representing the President of the NFAS; Senator Adam Mthethwa, thanked Swazi Trac for investing in football as by so doing, they are assisting the NFAS in achieving its main objective which is to develop and regulate the game of football in the country. “ On behalf of the NFAS, I would like to thank Swazi Trac for her continuous support towards football development in the country as it is now the third region league that the company is sponsoring”, he said. The Vice President of the NFAS, also highlighted that Swazi Trac has not only invested in football, but has also touched many lives as this sport is one of the vital pillars that can be used to raise the Swazi Child to be a responsible citizen in the near future.

 

Football clubs from the Shiselweni Region were also urged to utilize such opportunities that are availed by the sponsors and also maximise the availability of the infrastructure that is in the region in order to improve themselves and end up competing in the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS). “Even though there is no football club from the Shiselweni Region that is competing in the highest league in the country, the NFAS had it in mind that the Shiselweni Region is also a house of football, thus the facilitation of the infrastructure at the King Sobhuza Stadium and with such resources, the NFAS urges Shiselweni football clubs to utilize these facilities and end up competing against the best in the country”, he said. Lastly, the Vice President urged the Shiselweni Region to fight for her position in as far as football is concerned considering the fact that most of the best strikers on the land are from this region which is an indication that there is a potential of having a powerhouse football club (s) in the country from the Shiselweni Region.

 

Speaking on behalf of the sponsors was Mr Moses Motsa who highlighted that as a company, they hope this sponsorship will go a long way in as far as football development is concerned. “As a sponsor the Shiselweni Regional Football League, we hope this sponsorship will develop football and in particular in this region as we also hope that one day we will have at least a Shiselweni football club competing in the highest league in the country”. He also urged the football clubs to compete in a true spirit of fair play and discipline as these will attract more sponsors in the region. Finally, he expressed Swazi Trac’s excitement in painting the Shiselweni Region green through football as he described the beautiful game as a game of peace.
