National Teams

These are the national teams that represent the country in intercontinental competitions. The national teams' colours are blue, yellow and white. The blue colour is the dominant one on the home kit whilst white is the dominant colour on the away kit. There are men's and women's national teams.

Men

The men's national teams are as follows:

  •  Senior Men's National Team (Sihlangu SeMnikati).
  • Men's U23 National Team.
  • Men's U 20 National Team.
  • Men's U17 National Team.

Women

The women's national teams are as follows:

  • Senior Women's Senior National Team (Sitsebe SaMhlekazi).
  • Women's U 20 National Team.

Player Development

A player is developed on and off the field. Player development involves the following aspects:

  1. Technical Development

This is the development of the technical skills of a player. Technical development includes, passing, dribbling and shooting amongst other things.

 

  1. Tactical Development

This is the development of the tactical skills of a player. Tactical development includes the principles of attack, principles of defence, positional skill amongst other things.

 

  1. Physical Development

This is the development of the psychomotor skills of the player. This includes growth, recovery, speed, coordination and actions amongst other things.

 

  1. Mental Development

This is the development of the cognitive skills of a player. Mental development is also known as the construction of thoughts processes, which includes, preparation, positive thinking, acceptance, sporting culture, hygiene, problem solving and decision making amongst other things.

 

  1. Social Development

This is the development of social skills of a player. The player is being developed on how to prioritize human needs in the growth and progression of society. This includes emotions, confidence, friendship, education, sense of responsibility amongst other things.

Sitsebe

 

This is the Senior Women’s National Team. The technical bench of Sitsebe consist of Anthony Mdluli (Head Coach), Fisiwe Hlophe (Assistant Coach), Bongumusa Mdluli (Fitness Coach) and Nonhlanhla Shoulder (Goalkeeper Coach).

 

Technical and Development

Strategy:

To create an efficient technical development structure and efficient technical development programmes which will be a base for the identification, nurturing and continuous production and improvement or upgrade of technical personnel to elite levels.

Objectives:

  1. To identify and develop Coaching instructors for each of the four regions of the country.
  2. To produce more coaches sufficient for schools and all league clubs.
  3. Ensuring that technical development plan caters for the training of more women as coaches from amongst school teachers.
  4. Merging the schools junior development programme with the technical development plan for grassroots football.
  5. Sensitization and national mobilization to create awareness of mass participation in the development programmes.
  6. Development and Implementation of the Coaching Policy and the Coach Licensing System.

International

These are the competitions that are played for, by both the national team and local clubs. The international competitions that are being contested by the clubs are also referred to as interclub competitions. The international competitions that are contested by the national teams are the FIFA World Cup, TOTAL Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), TOTAL Champions of African Nations (CHAN), COSAFA Senior Challenge, U20 COSAFA Cup, African Union Sports Council Zone 6 Games and the Olympic Games. The international competitions that are contested by local clubs are the TOTAL CAF Champions League and the TOTAL CAF Confederations Cup.

Domestic

These are the competitions that are played for by the local clubs. The highest competitions are under the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) and the lowest competitions are under the Regional Associations. The is only one competition that focuses on Women’s Football. This is the Women Football League.

Sihlangu SeMnikati

This is the Senior Men's National Team. Kosta Papic is the Head Coach of Sihlangu SeMnikati.Currently, the national team is on position one hundred and forty one (141) on the FIFA rankings.The Senior Men's National Team has never qualified for the World Cup Finals, TOTAL Africa Cup of Nations and the TOTAL African Nations of Championships. The best performance of Sihlangu SeMnikati was winning the bronze medal during the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup.
