FIFA MA BASIC GOALKEEPING COURSE
As from Monday 11th September 2017, FIFA will be conducting the Basic Goalkeeping Course at the Technical Centre in Lobamba up to Friday 15th September 2017. The opening ceremony for this course will be at 1100 hrs (11:00 a.m.) while the closing ceremony will be 1300hrs on Friday 15th September 2017. The FIFA Instructor who will facilitate this course is Mr Alejandro Heredia from Argentina who is based in the Republic of South Africa. The target audience for this course are Regional Clubs’ Goalkeeping Coaches. These Coaches will be equipped theoretically and practically.
The purpose of this course is to nourish the technical and tactical awareness of the goalkeeper coaches as a way of enhancing their knowledge and practical experiences and momentously; is the fact that football is a dynamic game of which such courses plays a vital role in matching the latest trends in the game of football hence the need to adequately train the coaches regularly to augment their significant role of coaching the goalkeepers in their respective clubs.
THE 2017/2018 MTN PREMIER LEAGUE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED
The 2017/2018 MTN Premier League was officially launched at the Mahlalekhikhini House in Ezulwini which is the Head Office of the mobile network company with a sponsorship of Four Million and Ninety Seven, Six Hundred and eighty –four Emalangeni only (E4 097 684.00). This event marks the official kick-off of the 2017/2018 MTN Premier League and National First Division competitions. Present during this event was the President of the National Football association of Swaziland (NFAS); Senator Adam Mthethwa, Chairman of the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS); Mr. Victor Gamedze, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Swaziland; Mr Ambrose Dlamini and the Consumer Officer of MTN Swaziland; Mr Sam Shongwe, just to mention a few.
When marking his remarks, the President of the NFAS, expressed the football association’s gratitude towards the sponsor, MTN Swaziland for her investment towards football development in the country. “As the core business of the NFAS is to develop and regulate football in the country, I would like express our sincere gratitude to MTN Swaziland for her support towards football development in the country”, said the President of the NFAS. He also highlighted that such sponsorships enhances the football brand of the country in as far as the standard of play is concerned. The President concluded by expressing the football association’s appreciation in as far as the application of professionalism in the sport is concerned which will encourage more sponsors to invest in the game of billions.
The Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) also expressed her appreciation in as far as the partnership with MTN Swaziland is concerned. “As PLS, we are very much happy with our partnership with MTN Swaziland over the years, thus we very much recognize her effort as a brand and our sponsor”, said the Chairman of the PLS. also marking his remarks was PLS’s Executive Member; Mr. Mark Carmichael who also highlighted PLS’s gratitude towards MTN Swaziland for sponsoring the elite league in the country over the years. “Through MTN Swaziland, we are able to realize our aims and ambitions in football, thus credit must go to the MTN”, said Mark Carmichael. He also described the MTN Premier League as a competition that distinguishes the followers of the country’s football as it is more of a marathon.
Speaking on behalf of MTN Swaziland was Mr Ambrose Dlamini who expressed the sponsor’s excitement in partnering with football over the years. “as MTN Swaziland, we thank and appreciate the football family for the partnership, thus as a sponsor we take pride of being involved in football in the country and in sports in general”, said the CEO of MTN Swaziland. The Consumer Officer for NTN Swaziland; Mr. Sam Shongwe highlighted that the sponsor has invested over Twenty- Five Million Emalangeni (E25 000 000.00) in Swazi football through PLS. Football fans were not left out by the sponsor as fan engagement initiatives will be implemented by the sponsor as a way of motivating them to go and watch the matches in the stadiums though out the competition. The media was also acknowledged for the significant role that they play throughout the football season.
The Public Relations Officers (PROs) of the respective clubs under the PLS also acknowledged MTN Swaziland for her investment in the game of football over the years. Speaking on their behalf was Mr Frank Hurube who pledged the clubs’ support in as far as the marriage between PLS and MTN Swaziland is concerned. He also pleaded to the clubs to compete in good conduct and in the spirit of fair play.
INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MATCH BETWEEN THE SENIOR WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM AND SOUTH AFRICA’S U20 NATIONAL WOMEN TEAM
The Senior Women’s National Team (Sitsebe SaMhlekazi) will on Friday, 8th September 2017 play an international friendly match between South Africa’s U20 National Women Team at the Somhlolo National Stadium. This international friendly match will kick off at 1530 hrs (3:30 pm). This is part of Sitsebe SaMhlekazi’s preparations for the upcoming COSAFA Women’s Championships that will be held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe as from the 13th -24th September 2017. The Senior Women's National team is in Group B alongside Mozambique, Mauritius and Kenya. The opening match of Sitsebe SaMhlekazi will be against Mauritius on the 14th September 2017 at the Luveve Stadium. This fixture for the local Women's Senior National Team will be followed by a match against Mozambique on the 16th September 2017 at the Luveve stadium and the closing match in the group stages will be against Kenya on the 18th September 2017 at the Barbourfield Stadium.
NFAS ACKNOWLEDGE THE PRESENCE OF HIS MAJESTY KING MSWATI III DURING THE SPTC CHARITY CUP TOURNAMENT
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) hereby extends a special tribute and momentous gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III together with the Royal Household for gracing the 16th edition of the Swaziland Post and Telecommunications (SPTC) Charity Cup Competition. As football association and family, we are always humbled by His Majesty’s attendance. The presence of His Majesty gave this event the glamour and Royal extravagance.
Further appreciation goes to the Head of Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland, his Cabinet and Civil Service, Members of both Houses of Parliament, SPTC, Football family, Invited guest, Fans and the Media for being part of this historic event. They are also the principal reason the whole event was a success as charity was the ultimate winner (Yam’Nawe). The huge turnout and attendance was testimonial to the edition’s slogan as everyone contributed to the course of uplifting the disadvantaged soul of the country.
Finally the NFAS would like to congratulate the Champions; Mbabane Swallows FC; both the senior and U20 teams respectively, for their triumphs in both the senior and U20 categories of the cup. None of such could have been actualized without the sponsors, SPTC and the SPTC Charity Cup Organising Committee who presented a well- coordinated programme from its launch to the very end of this edition. The football family remains greatly indebted to SPTC.
SITSEBE SAMHLEKAZI PLAYED TWO INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MATCHES AGAINST NAMIBIAN'S NATIONAL TEAMS
The Senior Women's National Team (Sitsebe SaMhlekazi) played two (2) international friendly matches against two Namibians National Teams. The first match was between the Brave Gladiators which was played on Saturday, 26th August 2017 at the Namibian Football Association's (NFA) Technical Centre. Sitsebe SaMhlekazi lost by 3-2. It was the home side that drew the first bloood through Twelikondjela Amukoto's header. The Namibians scored 2 more goals before half time to make the score line 3-0 through Anna Marie Shikusho who scored a brace. Sitsebe SaMhlekazi came back stronger in the second half as they were able to score their first goal of the match through Celiwe Nkambule. The Swazi side continued to apply more pressure to the Namibians and they were rewarded for their efforts as they scored their second goal of the match via the boot of Ncobile Dlamini who converted a penalty.
On Sunday, 27th August 2017, Sitsebe SaMhlekazi played another international friendly match against the Young Gladiators of Namibia and they lost by 4-3 on penalties after playing to a 2-2 draw. It was the Namibian's Kyle van Wyk that opened the scoreline as the host lead by a solitary goal until half time. In the second half, the host increased the score line as they doubled the advantage through Lillie Kasheeta. Sitsebe SaMhlekazi managed to force the match into penalty shoot- out after Ncobile Dlamini scored a brace in the second half.
Sitsebe SaMhlekazi used these international friendly matches as part of the preparations for the upcoming COSAFA Women's Championships to be held in Zimbabwe as from the 13th - 24th September 2017.
SITESEBE SAMHLEKAZI IN GROUP B OF THE COSAFA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
The Senior Women's National Team (Sitsebe SaMhlekazi) is in Group B of the 2017 COSAFA Women's Championships to beheld in Zimbabwe from the 13-24th September 2017. The Nation , more especially the private sector, is urged to support Sitsebe SaMhlekazi as the commencement date of the competition draws nearer. Currently the Senior Women's National Team is in camp in readiness for this vital international assignment.
FIFA MA REFEREEING COURSE OFFICIALLY OPENED
The FIFA MA Refereeing Course was officially opened by the President of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS), Senator Adam Mthethwa on Monday, 21st August 2017 at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. This FIFA Event will end on Friday, 25th August 2017.
When making his remarks, the NFAS President reminded everyone about the main mandate of the NFAS, which is to develop football in the country of which it involves even the development of human resources that is used in the sport. “Let me remind everyone that the main mandate of the NFAS is to develop football in the country, of which it also vital to develop the human resources that is used in the sport”, he said. It is for this matter that the referees are being trained so that, they can perform their duties more efficiently. “Clubs were in their pre-season training of which a similar exercise is needed for referees before the new football season kicks off”, stressed the President of the NFAS.
He thanked FIFA for empowering local football and also congratulated the participants for being in such an important course. The President also believe that after this course, football will benefit as the referees will be empowered.
Also making his remarks during this event was the FIFA Fitness Instructor, Mr. Bento Thomas Navesse from Mozambique who also spoke on behalf of his colleague; FIFA Refereeing Technical Instructor; Mr. Doue Desire from Cot d’ Ivoire, who expressed their delight to be in the Kingdom of Swaziland and more especially for him as he commenced his FIFA Instructorship in this country in 2015. They are also looking forward to a successful course.
This FIFA MA Refereeing Course opening ceremony was also witnessed by the Referees Committee (RC) Chairman and an Executive Member of the NFAS; Mr. Philip Dlamini, the Chief executive Officer of the NFAS; Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu, local Refereeing Instructors and the Media.
CHARITY CUP A SUCCESSFUL COMPETITION OVER THE YEARS-NFAS PRESIDENT
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS), Senator Adam Mthethwa is pleased with the impact that the SPTC Charity Cup Competition has done to football and the society. When addressing the audience during the soccer kits presentations on Thursday, 17 th August 2017, the President of the NFAS highlighted that the Cup of Hope is very good for football as clubs are able to showcase their readyness for the new season whilst at the same time it provides a perfect platform to improve a lot of lives in the country over the years which makes the whole concept of this tournerment a successful one.
"This competition has been a success over the years as clubs are able to showcase what the fans can look forward to in as far as the new season is concerned and also the fact that charity is always a winner which is the main purpose of the competition", said the President of the NFAS.
Speaking of success, he also said that the country will be hosting its 50/50 celebration, the tripatate has already received the challenge of making the next edition the best ever Charity Cup. The President also urged the public to attend the Charity Cup games that will be played at the King Sobhuza Stadium on Sunday, 20th 2017.
YOUTH NATIONAL TEAMS TO PLAY IN DURBAN
As the main mandate of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) is to develop football in the country, the Youth National Teams in the age categories of U13's, U15's, U 17's and U20's will participate in an International Invitation Tournament in Durban, South Africa on the weekend of the 25th/26th August 2017. This confirmation was made the Executive Committee of the NFAS in a meeting that was held on Thursday, 15th August 2017 at Sigwaca House. This is a drive by the NFAS to intensify the development of future senior national teams'' players in accordance with the new strategic plan. These players are also developed in order to grace our football clubs.
NFAS MOURN THE DEATH OF A FORMER NATIONAL TEAM'S GOALKEEPER
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS), has expressed its heartfelt on behalf of the football intimate in Swaziland to the Robson "Sparks" Dlakubi's family, relatives, his former clubs, international teammates and friends for the shocking demise of this football legend who has served the country diligently. He was an asset to the beautiful game during his playing days and had already graduated as Goalkeeper Coach in the FIFA MA Goalkeeping Coaching Course held in Swaziland, where he had committed to extend his expert knowledge and experience in a field that he graced and excelled on. Mr Robson Dlakubi will always be remembered as one of the greatest goalkeepers who played for the Senior National Team (Sihlangu SeMnikati) between 1986-1993. May his soul, "Rest in Peace".
