SITSEBE SAMHLEKAZI TO INTENSIFY TOTAL AFCON PREPARATIONS

The senior Women’s National Team (Sitsebe SaMhlekazi) will intensify the preparations for the upcoming TOTAL AFCON Qualifiers against Lesotho. This was highlighted by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) during a press conference that was held at Sigwaca House in Mbabane. This will be the maiden appearance of the women’s national team in the AFCON competition.

Sitsebe SaMhlekazi will play against Lesotho early next year in a two-legged encounter with the winner to play against South Africa which will also be a two-legged encounter. The winners of the second round of qualifiers will qualify for the finals to be held in November 2018. These finals will be hosted by Ghana.

The women’s national team is expected to report in camp after the finalization of the training programme that will assist Sitsebe SaMhlekazi to prepare for this competition. “We are still drawing up the programme that will help the Women’s national team to prepare for the TOTAL AFCON Qualifiers as we want the national team to give it their best shot and achieve positive results”, said the CEO.  He also highlighted that the participation of Sitsebe SaMhlekazi in such competitions enriches the development of Women’s football in the country. “Our participation in such competitions will enhance the growth of women’s football in the country as the players will be motivated to play under the Women’s Football League (WFL) in order for them to be selected to play for Sitsebe SaMhlekazi” said the CEO of the NFAS.

OFFICIAL SITE HANDOVER FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE FIFA GOAL PROJECT IV AT KALANGA

The Site Handover for the implementation of the Lubombo Technical Centre which is under the FIFA Goal Project IV was officially done at KaLanga in Siteki. This is where the new Technical Centre of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) will be based. The constructors of this project are MO Mkhabela & Associates and Homeboyz- TCS JV. Present during this event was the President of the NFAS; Senator Adam Mthethwa, Vice President of the NFAS and Chairman of the Finance Committee; Mr. Peter Simelane and the Chief Executive Officer of the NFAS; Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu.

This handover event symbolizes the commencement of the construction part of the project which is expected to take seven (7) months. Making the presentation on behalf of the constructors was Mr. Zwelithini Mkhabela who highlighted to the Executive Committee Members of the NFAS on how the whole project will be implemented. He stated that the site establishment will be in place in space of two (2) weeks. “The site establishment will be in place within 2 weeks”, he said.

The progress report will be available as construction work is done. The construction program will also be in place for the duration of the contract with site meetings being held every after 3 weeks. The scope of works includes the main constructors’ works and the provisional sums/specialist works. Some of the main constructors’ works are the basement houses which include 2 identical dressing rooms, first aid and referees rooms just to mention few. The ground floor includes the reception area, staff kitchen and administration blocks amongst others. The provisional sums/ specialist works consists of the electrical installation, roofing covering, water proofing and soccer pitch just to mention a few.

This infrastructure development follows the construction of the Technical Centre in Lobamba, King Sobhuza II Stadium and the extension of the Sigwaca House which will act as a commercial wing for the NFAS.

THE TRAINING CAMP WAS GOOD -PIETIER DE JONGH

The Senior Men's National Team (Sihlangu SeMnikati) Head Coach, Pietier De Jongh is very pleased with the training camp of the national team that ended on Sunday; 8th October 2017 as he was able to see new players who are from the U 20 National team. “This was a positive training camp as it involved new players from the U20s Men National Team". This training camp was part of the national team's preparations for the the upcoming TOTAL AFCON Qualifier match against Tunisia in the 27th March 2018 on home soil. These players are Vovovo FC defender, Mncedisi Dlamini and Mbabane Highlanders FC defender, Vusi Vilakati. This is positive sign for the future of the national team.

In this training camp, the focus was on the enrichment of the national team players' on their technical and tactical capabilities when it comes to the national team. The physical fitness , speed, player discipline, player management and cooperation were some of the areas that the players were trained on. "It is very important for the players to know the intention , what's best and what it means to be a national team player", said the coach. The coach is positive that the young players learnt a lot from this training camp more especially from the experienced players like Captain Tony Tsabedze, Mandla Palma and Nhlanhla Gwebu just to mention a few.

The next training camp will be from the 6th- 14th November 2017.

THE FIFA MA ADMINISTRATION COURSE OFFICIALLY CLOSED

The FIFA MA Administration Course that was held at the Technical Centre in Lobamba as from Monday,2nd –Friday 6th October 2017 was officially closed by the President of the National Football association of Swaziland (NFAS); Senator Adam Mthethwa. This happened in the presence of the FIFA Instructor; Mr. Jacquer Desire Laval Malie, Chief Executive Officer of the NFAS; Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu and the Technical Director of The NFAS; Mr. Bhekisisa Mkhonta. Just to mention a few.

In his remarks, the President of the NFAS thanked the FIFA Instructor for sharing his knowledge to the participants. “Thank you very much Mr. FIFA Instructor for sharing your knowledge to the participants as this was a vital course for our football”, he said. Since the main mandate of the NFAS is to develop and regulate football in the country, the President of the NFAS also urged the participants to enhance the football association’s effort in that endeavour. “Let’s work together for the common goal of the NFAS which is to develop and regulate football in the country”, he said. He finally congratulated the participants for being part of this vital course since it started up to the end.

Also addressing the audience was the FIFA Instructor who expressed his joy towards the successful implementation of this course. “Thank you to everyone for the successful conclusion of this course as it went according to plan and also thank you to the participants for the good corporation”, he said. The FIFA Instructor also highlighted the importance of club licensing as it will enrich the football development in the country. “All stakeholders must implement the club licensing as it will enrich the football development in the country. “All stakeholders must implement the club licensing requirements as it will improve the local game of football”, he said. He also urged the participants to share the knowledge that they got from this course to the other personnel in football in order for the administration of the game to be enhanced.

Speaking on behalf of the participants was Mr. Sifiso Shabalala who thanked FIFA and the NFAS for facilitating and giving them this opportunity to be participants of this significant course. “Thank you FIFA andNFAS for this course as we benefited a lot and also thank you Mr. FIFA Instructor for sharing your knowledge to us”, he said. With this knowledge, he urged his colleagues to make football the winner.

EXPRESSION OF HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO THE BUILD IT FAMILY

The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) and the entire football family, would like to extend its sincere and heartfelt condolences and symbol of solidarity to the Build it Family and most extensively the Ismail Family, relatives and friends for the establishment of this shocking tragedy that claimed the life of Mr. Cassim Ismail on Saturday at the Malagwane Hill. This is a great loss to football as he was a very much supportive towards football development in the country considering the fact that he was one of the pioneers of the NFAs/Build it U 13’s football competition since its inception in 2005. Mr. Cassim Ismail was a great supporter of the development of junior players in the country.

 

Like the rest of the public, the NFAS still cannot comprehend the dreadful tragedy but believe that God Almighty will afford solace and reassurance to all affected at such a depressing instant. The NFAS, at this instance, express its symbol of solidarity and best wishes of recovery to all affected and speedily recovery to all affected families, society and establishments from his demise.

FIFA MA ADMINISTRATION COURSE OFFICIALLY OPENED

The FIFA MA Administration Course that is currently taking place, was officially opened by the President of the National Football association of Swaziland (NFAS); Senator Adam Mthethwa in an event that was held at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. Present during this event was the Chief Executive Officer of the NFAS; Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu, the FIFA Instructor; Mr. Jacquer Desire Laval Malie and the Technical Director (TD) of the NFAS just to mention a few.

When addressing the audience, the President of the NFAS, compared this course as a mini-congress due to the presence of the Executive Members from the different members of the NFAS amongst the participants. He also highlighted to the participants about the importance of knowledge in football. “It is very important to equip ourselves with the knowledge of football as we have a huge responsibility of improving our football”, he said. In conclusion, the President of the NFAS expressed his gratitude on behalf of the NFAS to FIFA for the continuous support towards the development of football in the country.

The FIFA Instructor also had some words to share with the audience during the event. He thanked the NFAS for the great hospitality since his arrival in the country and also shared his delight in as far as the progress in the local game of football is concerned. “I am very thankful to the NFAS for the wonderful hospitality since my arrival and I am also impressed with the  progress of your game as I enjoyed top class football at the Somhlolo National Stadium”, he said. The FIFA Instructor also stated that without good administration, there is no possible development in football, thus the importance of such coursed. The FIFA Instructor also shared his delight to the NFAS for hosting this course as it also facilitates the sharing of experiences.

SIHLANGU SEMNIKATI PLAYERS FOR THE UPCOMING TRAINING CAMP

The Senior National team (Sihlangu SeMnikati) will be in full time training camp during this upcoming FIFA International week. This training camp will commence on Monday, 2nd - Tuesday, 10th October 2017 at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. It is part of the national team’s preparations for the upcoming TOTAL Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match against Tunisia on home soil, which will be played on the 28th March 2017. FIFA MA BASIC ADMINISTRATION COURSE

The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) will as from Monday, 2nd to Friday; 6th October 2017 host a FIFA MA Basic Administration Course, at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. The FIFA appointed instructor for this course is Mr. Jacquer Desire Laval Malie from Mauritius.

 

Some of the topics that will be part of this course include; Planning, Human Resources, Finance Management and Communication just to mention a few. The purpose of this course is to empower the participants with vital and appropriate football skills more particularly as they are placed in vital administration and management positions in the governance of the game. The empowerment in the technical aspect of football administration will enhance the practical leadership and management in all the realms within the football association, thus assuring informed and sustained maturity of the game. The participants are also expected to attend a meeting on Saturday, 30th September 2017 at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. OCEAN BASKET PRESENTS 2017 HIGH SCHOOLS WOMEN'S FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS WITH A SOCCER KIT

The 2017 High schools Women National Champions'; Elangeni High School, received a kind gesture from Ocean Basket in a form of a soccer kit. This school was crowned champions after winning against Hillside High School by 3-0. The key existence of this football development programme is to develop women football in the country as these players are being recruited by the different women's football clubs that play under the Women Football Association (WFA).

When making his remarks, the Chief executive Officer (CEO) of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) thanked Ocean Basket for her investment towards football development in the country. "As the NFAS, we would like to thank Ocean Basket for her investment towards football development in the country and more especially women's football", said the CEO. He also highlighted that these women's football development programme plays a vital role towards the development of players as they end up playing in the Women's Football League (WFL)  and ultimately the Women's National Team, Sitsebe SaMhlekazi.

Ocean Basket's Executive Director, Mrs Thokozile Vilakati- Jele, extended the organization's gratitude towards their involvement in this football development initiative more so as it involves the Swazi Girl child ina sport that is male dominated. "As ocean Basket, w really appreciate to be part of this football development initiative as we develop the Swazi Girl Child through a sport that is male dominated which is a good platform for girl/women empowerment in the country", she said. The Executive Director also congratulated the champions and also encourage other girls to participate in sports.

Speaking on behalf of here colleagues, was Thandeka Mbatha who extended their appreciation to both The NFAS and Ocean Basket for empowering them through football by providing the platform to showcase their football artistry. With more support from stakeholders, women football in the country can reach greater heights.

SITE INSPECTION OF THE NFAS'S PROJECT AT KALANGA

As part of its infrastructure and football development initiatives, the site inspection of the National Football Association of Swaziland's (NFAS) KaLanga Project was done on Monday, 25th September 2017. Present during this event was the Vice President of the NFAS; Mr. Peter Simelane,Members of the Executive Committee of the NFAS, Lugongolweni Member of Parliament (MP); Mr Joseph Sauza, Indvuna YeMphakatsi of KaLanga; Mr Solomon Mhambi Mbingo, Representatives of the Land and Management Board, Representatives of the Regional Administration Office just to name a few. This project is for the construction of the new Technical Centre of the NFAS and will be done by Total Concrete Solutions and Homeboys Construction.

 When making his remarks, the Vice President of the NFAS; Mr. Peter Simelane, thanked the KaLanga Chiefdom for offering the land to the NFAS for such an important project as it will be part of the development initiatives  within the area. "On behalf of the NFAS, I would like to thank the KaLanga Chiefdom for this land as this is a vital project that will also develop this area", said the Vice President. He also pleaded to the constructors to prioritize the people of KaLanga in as far as employment opportunities are concerned so that they also benefit from this project.

 Also making his remark, was Mr. Solomon Mhambi Mbingo (Indvuna YeMphakatsi) who thanked the NFAS for choosing KaLanga for this vital project. "We would like to thank the NFAS for choosing KaLanga for this project as the football association could have chosen other places", he said. He also acknowledged the NFAS for its quick reaction in as far as the implementation process is concerned, as this site inspection symbolizes the beginning of the project. The Lugongolweni MP; Mr Joseph Souza echoed the Indvuna YeMphakatsi's words as he thanked the NFAS for this project and also pleaded to the constructors to employ people from KaLanga are and the surroundings first inorder to maximize the benefits of this project in the area.

According to the architecture; Mr. Zwelithini Mahlalela, this project includes a playing ground, two dressing rooms, referees rooms, first aid room, hall and the administration block just to mention a few.
