MTN PUMPS IN E18 MILLON TO FOOTBALL
The Eswatini MTN and the Premier League of Eswatini have renewed their partnership through football. This was after the mobile telecommunication network provider committed itself to sponsor the elite football league and the National First Division.
This is a 3-year agreement that will commence in the 2018/19 football season. Signing the agreement on behalf of the Eswatini MTN was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ambrose Dlamini whilst signing on behalf of the Premier league of Eswatini was the acting Chairman of the PLS Mark Carmichael. Also present during this historic football event was the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Paul Dlamini, Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Ngcamphalala and the Vice President of the football association Peter Simelane. This sponsorship is worth E18 Million which implies that each football season will have E6 Million.
When addressing the audience, the DPM acknowledged Eswatini MTN for her continuous support towards the development of football and sports in general in the country. “His Majesty’s Government acknowledges Eswatini MTN for her continuous support towards football development and sports in general as this sponsorship will enhance football development in the country”, Dlamini said.
The Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Ngcamphalala highlighted that this sponsorship will motivate the football clubs in playing good football. “This sponsorship is a motivation for good football on its own”, Ngcamphalala said.
THE FOOTBALL FAMILY IS EXCITED BY THE ESWATINI MTN SPONSORSHIP
The E18 Million sponsorship by Eswatini MTN to football through the PLS has bought joy to the football family. This was confirmed by the NFAS Vice President Peter Simelane and Chairman of the PLS Mark Carmichael. The Vice President of the NFAS stated that Eswatini MTN has provided the platform for football growth. “Eswatini MTN has provided a great platform for football growth”, Simelane said. Due to the good investment that the Y’ello family is providing to the football family, he also promised Eswatini MTN that football as a family will support and protect the MTN brand.
On the other hand, the PLS Chairman shared the joy of PLS as a result of this sponsorship and also promised the Y’ello family that the football family will uplift the MTN brand. “As PLS and football family, we are over the moon as a result of this sponsorship and we promise to uplift your brand through football”, Carmichael said. The Chairman also highlighted that such sponsorship enhances club licensing as football is more than just a sport but it’s an industry.
THE MTN/PLS SPONSORSHIP, A FLAGSHIP SPONSORSHIP FOR US-ESWATINI MTN
The Eswatini MTN declared the MTN/PLS sponsorship as the flagship sponsorship for the mobile telecommunication network provider. This was stated by the Eswatini CEO Ambrose Dlamini. “This is a prime and flagship sponsorship for Eswatini MTN”, Dlamini said. The mobile telecommunication company has sponsored the upcoming 3-year elite football season. This sponsorship also comes in a year that Eswati MTN is celebrating her 20 years of existence in the Kingdom of Esawtini.
As a reflection of Eswatini MTN’s partnership with the PLS, the CEO highlighted that as an organisation, they are very much excited with the partnership over the years as they have benefited a lot. “We are happy with the partnership over the 15 years as we have benefited a lot”, Dlamini said. In the past 15 years Eswatini MTN has invested over E25 Million.
In conclusion, the CEO also acknowledged the PLS for running the elite football league in a professional manner.
THE NFAS EXPRESSES ITS HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES ON THE DEMISE OF MR. MANGALISO LANGWENYA
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) on behalf of the entire football intimate in Swaziland has extended its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Langwenya family, relatives, international football family and friends for the shocking demise of Mr. Mangaliso “The General” Langwenya who was an Executive Member of the National Football Association of Swaziland, Chairman of the Lubombo Regional Football Association, Chairman of the Women Football Committee, FIFA and CAF-accredited Match Commissioner and a Member of the COSAFA Referees Committee. "Like the rest of the country and more especially the football fraternity, the NFAS still cannot comprehend his passing on as he was an asset to the beautiful game both locally and at the international arena", said the Vice President of the NFAS Mr. Peter Simelane. The NFAS is also expresses its symbol of solidarity and wishes for the Lord’s comfort and recovery to all affected families, society and establishments from his passing on said part of the statement read by the Vice President of the NFAS. May his soul, “Rest in Peace”.
THE FIFA MA PHYSICAL FITNESS COACHING COURSE OFFICIALLY OPENED
The FIFA MA Physical Fitness Coaching Course was officially opened by the Vice President of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Mr. Peter Simelane. This event was held at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. Also present during this occasion was the Representative of the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Mr. Mangaliso Simelane, FIFA Instructor Mr. Kari Malouche and the Technical director of the NFAS Mr. Bhekisiasa Mkhonta.
In his opening remarks, Mangaliso Simelane acknowledged the support of FIFA towards football Development in the country. “As the responsible ministry when it comes to sports, we would like to acknowledge FIFA for her continuous support towards football development in the country”, he said. The Vice President on the other hand, officially welcomed the FIFA Instructor and also highlighted the significance of this course. “Let me officially welcome you to the Kingdom of Eswatini for this course as physical fitness is one of the fundamental qualities for a successful player”, he said. The FIFA Instructor thanked the warm welcome and the hospitality that he is currently getting from the NFAS and also thanked FIFA for providing everyone who is involve in this course the opportunity to do so.
He also told the participants that they will benefit from this course as he hope it will be a successful one. “You will benefit from this course as I hope it will be a successful one”, he said.
VUYOLWETHU DLAMINI AND VUNOKUHLE DUBE TO ATTEND THE FOOTBALL FOR FRIENDSHIP PROGRAMME
Gazprom and FIFA has provided a life-time experience for two (2) youth football players by being part of the Football for Friendship Programme that will be held in Mosco, Russia. This programme will commence on the 9th and end on the 14th of June 2018. The participating children are from the 211 member countries of FIFA. The major purpose of this programme which started in 2013 is to promote the key values of this programme which are friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, tradition and honour. The travelling children are Vunokuhle Dube who travel on his capacity as a player of one team that will be competing during this programme whilst Vuyolwethu is travelling on his capacity as a journalist as the is also a role for young journalist as part of this programme as it focuses on the youth. They were chosen from the U13 BuildIt Football Development Programme. These children will be accompanied by the Chairman of the Swaziland National Referees Association Chairman, Simanga Nhleko and Friday Myeni who is the Youth Football Development Officer of the NFAS. They are expected to also witness the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup before returning back home on the 16th June 2018.
THE NFAS ACKNOWLEDGES GAZPROM AND FIFA FOR THE FOOTBALL FOR FRIENDSHIP PROGRAMME
The NFAS has acknowledged Gazprom and FIFA for the Football for Friendship Programme as it will enhance football development in the country. This was highlighted by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Football association of Swaziland (NFAS) Frederick Mngomezulu in a press conference at Sigwaca House in Mbabane. “The NFAS is very acknowledges the Football for Friendship Programme as it will enhance the development of football in the country”, said Mngomezulu. The CEO also expressed that this initiative will present a perfect platform for the children in the sharing of ideas and experiences. “These children will have an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other participants from different countries and backgrounds” the CEO said. Finally he also acknowledged the support from their parents in allowing the NFAS to use their children in this programme and also thanked other parents in general for allowing their children to participate in other football development programme.

SIHLANGU IS READY FOR COSAFA
Sihlangu SeMnikati is ready for the 2018 COSAFA Castle Cup Competition. The nation’s pride’s opening match is against the Lekuena from Lesotho on Saturday, 2nd June 2018 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Speaking during the media day at the Somhlolo National Stadium, the Head Coach, Anthony Mdluli assured the nation that as the technical bench, they will take a team that will do very well in the competition. “We will have a team that will possible play 3 games in the COSAFA Castle Cup competition”, he said. When focusing on the national team’s opening match against Lesotho, he highlighted that the Basotho are a good team as they a very quick when in possession of the ball. “The Basotho are a good side as they are very quick when they are in possession of the ball thus we also have to be quick in order to match them”, he said.
SIHLANGU PLAYERS AIM FOR THE FINALS
With the COSAFA Castle Cup already in progress in Limpompo, the sky is the limit for the national team players. The nations pride is aiming at rewriting history by being the first group to reach the COSAFA Castle Cup Finals. This is evidence as the players are sweating it out in every training session in preparations for this competition. Sihlangu goalkeeper, Nhlanhla Gwebu highlighted that the preparations are going very well as they are very much focused to this international assignment. “The preparations are going very well and the competition amongst ourselves as players of the national team is very healthy as everyone wants to be part of the travelling team”, the shot stopper said.
The 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup top goal scorer, Felix Bendenhost echoed Nhanhla Gwebu’s words as he stated that the training camp is going very well and they are ready for their opening match in the competition. “So far so good in the training camp and we are ready for the match against Lesotho”; he said. When quizzed about the focus on personal glory in as far as being the all-time top gaol scorer of the competition, he said his focus is on assisting the national team in breaking previous records in the competition and if such happens, it will be an icing on the cake. “My focus is on the team achievements rather than on personal achievements, however; if that happens it will be a good thing for me”, he said.The Sihlangu player also noted that the recently played matches in this year’s edition shows that the standard of play is improving in each participating country.
