Sihlangu Head Coach has named a 27 men squad for the training camp that will start on Sunday, 5th May 2019. The national team will be preparing for the 2nd leg match against Malawi in the 2020 Total CHAN Qualifiers. The players are as follows:
The Senior Men’s National Team’s (Sihlangu) Head Coach, Kostadin Papic has praised his players for their effort after the goalless draw against The Flames of Malawi in the 2020 Chan Qualifier match that was played at the Mavuso Sports Centre in Manzini. This result gave the football fans who attended the match, some hope that the national team can improve this performance and knock –out Malawi in the competition with the second leg to be played on the 11th May 2019.
“This is a better performance for the players when you compare with the previous match of which it is an indication that there is light at the end of the tunnel”; said the Serbian born coach. The national team created a lot of scoring opportunities during this match and were in some cases detecting terms in the more especial in the midfield with some immaculate football artistry from the experienced Njabulo Ndlovu.
According to the head coach, the players were good in the office however they have to work on their confidence that adversely affected their football on the day. “I am a coach who likes to win and this didn’t happen today; however that doesn’t mean the players were not good as they created a lot of scoring opportunities. What I have noticed is that they are lacking in confidence which adversely affected their football”; Papic said.
Sihlangu still have a chance of progressing to the next round of the competition as they need a minimum of a draw with goals which can make the national team to play against Angola in a date to be confirmed by the Confederation of the African Football (CAF).
The U13, U15, U17 and U20 Men’s National Team left the country by road for Durban in Republic of South Africa. These national teams will participate in a tournament that is organised by the Durban Central Football Association, which is a yearly event that is hosted by both associations in a rotational basis as it was hosted by the Eswatini Football Association in 2018.
The delegation included 72 players and 26 officials; of which amongst them are 2 Executive Committee Members who are Mr. Johannes Siboza and Mr. Sikhumbuzo Dlamini. These Executive Members are the Heads of delegations for these national teams.
When addressing them; the Eswatini Football Association President, Mr. Adam Mthethwa highlighted to the lads that they must take this opportunity with both hands as this may be the beginning of bigger things in their lives. “In life you begin somewhere of which such opportunities need to be grabbed with both hands as it may be the start of bigger things in your lives”; Mthethwa said. He also reminded them to be in good conduct as they will be representing the Eswatini nation at large. This delegation is expected back home on Easter Monday as the football games will commence on Good Friday and end on Sunday.

The Executive Committee of the Eswatini Football association (EFA) has approved the appointment of the following coaches to be part of the technical benches of the various national teams. These coaches are as follows:
The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) processed about 40 international transfers through ITMS this past season. Although 98% of the transfers were free, about One Hundred and Twenty Thousand US Dollars ($120 000.00) was made by few clubs. Almost all the transfers did not involve any intermediaries serve for one which involved Alimas BIN Sala who receive a sum of One Thousand Five Hundred US Dollars ($1 500.00) as handing fee.
The Senior Men’s National Team left the country for Tunis to play against Tunisia in the last match of the 2019 TOTAL AFCON Qualifier Match. Sihlangu SeMnikati’s delegation includes 20 players and 9 officials which is headed by the Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA’s) Vice President Dr. Comfort Shongwe. The national team left the country by road and will connect a flight in OR Tambo International Airport and fly via Dubai. Sihlangu is scheduled to arrive in Tunisia on Thursday morning.
When addressing the players; the Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harris Bulunga urged the players to put mor effort in this match as they are representing the country. “You must put more effort in this match as you are not playing for yourselves but representing the country.”; Bulunga said. The Hounarable Minister also reminded the players that Sihlangu is a brand of which good results are very much key in making prospective sponsors to invest in the national team. “Sihlangu is a brand thus good results are very much vital in order for prospective sponsors to invest in the national team”; the Honourable Minister said.
Also present during the farewell event of the Nation’s Pride were the Senior officials in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth affairs who included the Principal Secretary Prince Mlayeto, Under Secretary Mr. Nhlanhla Motsa; EFA’s president Mr. Adam Mthethwa and Chief executive Officer of the EFA Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu.
Sihlangu SeMnikati is expected back home on Sunday, 24th March 2019. This official international match will be played on Friday, 22nd March 2019 and kick-off is at 1915 hrs Tunisian time. The travelling players are:
The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) have send the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) to inspect the national stadium of all the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) membership. The purpose of this exercise is to advice the COSAFA membership on general safety management. “The main purpose of this initiative is to give advice on the safety management in the stadium”; said Peter Weymes.
According to the safety expert; the safety issue starts from the point all the stakeholders leave home until they come back. He also highlighted that safety touches many aspects in the implementation of an event. Waynes made an example of ticketing which he stated that it is also important in as far as safety is concerned. “Ticketing is one of the important issues as the is a need to understand that it is pointless to arrive at the stadium without a ticket”; Weymes said. He also emphasised that it must be ensured that the only fans to enter the stadium must be those with tickets and they must be as per the stadium capacity.
Another important safety issue is the approach towards safety during an event. “How we approach to safety is key thus it is communication is very important”; Peter Weymes said. It is for this matter that contingency plans must be in place when it come to stadium safety. The next stop for this initiative is Zambia. Other countries that have been visited are Mozambique, Angola and Malawi just to mention some of them.
The Senior Men’s National Team (Sihlangu SeMnikati) has begun the training camp in preparation of the upcoming TOTAL AFCON Qualifier match to be played in Tunisia on Saturday, 23rd March 2018. All the locally based players are in camp whilst the internationals are expected to join camp on the 17th and 18th March 2018.
The spirit is very high and the players are already bonding very well with the Head Coach Kostadin Papic, his technical staff and amongst themselves. This training camp will end after the international match against Tunisia.
