The COSAFA U20 Youth Championship has been postponed to next year to allow more COSAFA Member Associations to compete. Dues to the existence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, international travelling has been adversely affected thus the difficulty in itinerant of the officials and national teams that were to participate in the competition which was scheduled to be implemented from the 10th -18th December 2021.
“We are desperately disappointed for the players and teams, as well as the Eswatini Football Association, who had agreed to be our hosts, and are far down the line with required preparations” said COSAFA General Secretary Sue Destombes. The postponement of this competition has presented Eswatini to be the hosts of the same competition which will also be the TotalEnergies U20 AFCON Qualifiers, with the finals to be implemented in Ivory Coast in 2023.
